Pirtek on the Grid at BTCC and SED2011
Pirtek is a true SED veteran and has supported the show for many years, the company was disappointed that this year’s event was cancelled; however, Pirtek wasted no time in securing a 144m2 stand for the SED 2011 show.
Pirtek is also looking forward to the 2010 British Touring Car Championship which kicks off the season with round 1 at Thruxton on 4th April.
The Dunlop MSA BTCC will see a new addition to the grid for the 2010 season as Pirtek Racing launches its campaign on Britain’s premier motor racing series. Sponsored by fluid transfer solutions provider Pirtek, the team will be run by former BTCC race winner Mike Jordan and will see Mike’s 20-year old son Andrew – the fastest-rising star in the BTCC - taking on driving duties.
The team will run the proven Vauxhall Vectra car for their 2010 campaign, giving continuity to Andrew after a competitive season in the 2009 VXRacing Vectra. The Pirtek Racing team is also the first to announce the use of the new two litre turbo powered TOCA engine that will power their Vectra for the forthcoming season.
Andrew Jordan, who already has six BTCC podiums to his name, commented, “I’m really looking forward to the challenge of new season. It’s good for me to be continuing with the Vectra, I always felt it was a strong, great handling car and I had some good outings in it last season. At times we struggled with the engine power, so now with the new TOCA engine not only will it be cost effective to run but I’m confident we should be capable of winning.”
Mike Jordan added, “It is a good feeling to be back involved with a car and our own team in the BTCC with Pirtek’s support. The package of the Vectra and the TOCA engine should be very strong and I’m sure Andrew can use his knowledge of the car to great advantage. The team will also have a level of continuity as several personnel have been carried over from working with Andrew on the Vectra at VX Racing last season as well as the JordanSport Britcar programme.”
Alan Gow, Series Director, British Touring Car Championship added, “Andrew’s results in his first two seasons clearly show he’s a real star of the future and I know Pirtek Racing will be a very well set-up and determined team – geared around Andrew and run by his father Mike, it has all the ingredients for success.”
Pirtek will be at SED 2011 from 17th – 19th May next year at Rockingham Motor Speedway, Corby Northamptonshire.
