New Grundodrill XP for a Greater Performance and More Safety
TT UK has confirmed that the company will be coming back to SED in 2011 and has recently secured its stand space on the SED showground - amongs the exhibits will be the new Grundodrill XP which is being launched at Bauma in April of this year.
The underground installation of water, gas and power lines with the HDD bore method is an economical and ecological alternative to the open trenching method. To ensure a smooth bore operation, modern boring technology is required as well as safe handling by operating personnel.
Bore rigs, such as the new Grundodrill 10 XP and 15 XP from TRACTO-TECHNIK are equipped with numerous high-tech-components. This does not mean that the boring operation has become more complicated – in fact the opposite is the case. Immense increase in rotation performance, as well as advance technical improvements, really speak volumes for the XP, which works more quietly compared to other bore systems. Further highlights to be noted are the 400 mm wide rubber undercarriage, the bore-data storage system, the tensile strength measuring system and remote data transfer to the LCD display, which controls the bore mode and the auto-bore. A “black box” stores the bore process and the data is available at all times.
The percussive hammer, which is typical of the Grundodrill, increases the application possibilities for the system in stony soils. The dynamic percussive hammer (1500 strokes/min) can even bore through weathered rocks.
Apart from the optimised performance, the focus of the research and development phase was on the improvement of working and operating safety. The radio remote control allows the operator to work freely around the bore rig, without a restrictive connection cable. This allows safe operation when driving and manoeuvring the rig. With manual hydraulics, in case the steering technique should break down, you can still operate the bore rig so that the pulling in process can be completed and not interrupted. The protected drill rod box and the secure rig boom ensure there is no risk of harming the operator.
The heated operating cabin can be swivelled in 5 steps up to maxi. 75° and allows for a complete overview and therefore optimal control of the complete bore process. The cabin is equipped with an ergonomically designed operator seat. The joysticks steer the individual bore functions. The automatic sequences of the HDD unit have been set and regulated optimally and therefore preserve the bore rig and increase it’s service life.
The XP bore rigs will be exhibited by TRACTO-TECHNIK at BAUMA in Munich from April 19th to 25th and will also be at SED from 17th – 19th May 2011.
