BMI to Exhibit at SED for the First Time Following Expansion

bmiBucking the current economic trend BMI Hose (UK), the number 2 in the industrial and hydraulic hose market, has just completed building work expanding its warehouse and offices to cope with increased demand through its main warehouse. The development work has added 50,000 square feet of warehouse space, new high density racking, and office accommodation for 10 people.  The company is also making its SED debut at the 2011 event.

The founder and Chief Executive of BMI Hose, Simon Moxham, is the former European commercial director of competitor Pirtek. Moxham had this to say as staff loaded stock into the new warehouse racking; “I’m delighted to announce that due to increased customer demand we’re expanding our capacity in these tough economic times and that we’re able to create employment for 10 more staff, here in Wolverhampton. The message that we’re the viable alternative in the emergency on-site hose replacement market and that we offer unique value is getting through to the market place”.

The market as a whole is worth over £600m p.a. in the UK. The BMI Hose service operates in a similar way to the AA or the RAC with customers calling an emergency hot-line number (08452 10 9 8 7 6) to call on the emergency service at any time of the day or night. Most typical hose replacement jobs are completed in just a couple of hours of receiving the customer’s initial call, so expensive ‘down-time’ is avoided and jobs are kept on track. “We live in a ‘24/7 world’ with construction work, manufacturing, and transport and logistics services operating around the clock and so demand for emergency hose service is on the increase” comments Moxham.

The first pilot BMI Hose centre opened in Dudley in November 2007, just a few miles from the corporate headquarters in Wolverhampton. The acquisition of Hiflex Fluidpower, in September 2008, catapulted BMI Hose to the number 2 position in the industrial and hydraulic hose market. The BMI network consists of a mix of company owned and franchised outlets, with 19 centres nationwide operating over 65 service vehicles.

The roll-out of new BMI Hose centres is going to plan and BMI Hose expect to open a further 6 Hose centres in 2010 as the franchise network expands throughout the UK. Two new franchised hose centres are in the final stages of preparation and will open shortly. “We’ve a lot of people interested in our business model who bring with them local knowledge, enthusiasm and the desire to build an excellent service business” comments Moxham. “We’ve world class products in Bridgestone hydraulic hose and Intertraco fittings and a really customer orientated approach to convenience, service and value.”

As well as providing a 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on-site emergency.  For more information visit www.bmiuk.co.uk or call 01902 867 800.
