Cesar to Attend SED 2011

datatagDatatag, the power behind the CESAR scheme, has just announced that it will attend SED 2011 scheduled to be held at Rockingham on May 17th-19th next year.

With over 30,000 machines registered in construction and agriculture CESAR, supported by the Home Office and the British Machinery Insurers Association, is the world leading security scheme providing a powerful deterrent against theft and an assured way of identifying a machine in the unlikely event of theft. Statistics compiled by the insurance industry funded Plant and Agriculture National Intelligence Unit show that CESAR registered machines are 6 times more likely to be recovered in the event of theft, than unregistered machines, and 4 times less likely to be stolen in the first place.

CESAR is fitted as standard to many brands of construction equipment sold into the UK including CAT, JCB, Manitou, Merlo, Hyundai, Bobcat, Bomag, Hanix, and Takeuchi. Some Kubota models are also fitted with CESAR. Cat, JCB, Manitou, and Merlo also fit CESAR to the machines they sell into agriculture.

CESAR fitment qualifies for ‘1 star’ in the Thatcham machinery security rating scheme. JCB and Kubota both market excavators with 3 ‘Thatcham stars’ out of a possible 5, the highest ratings currently available. Substantial insurance premium discounts are available for machines equipped with CESAR ot machines with higher Thatcham ratings making the decision to fit CESAR an easy one?

Armed with a Datatag scanner the police are able to check on the authenticity of a CESAR registered machine in a matter of seconds as the scanner ‘reads’ the RFID (Radio-frequency identification) tags hidden in the machine. CESAR security devices also include 2 tamper proof triangular registration plates (4 plates in agriculture) with a unique number for each machine, forensic liquid DNA, and thousands of microscopic Datadots. It is literally impossible for thieves to remove all the traces of Datatag identification technology from a CESAR registered machine, which is one reason why recovery rates are higher than for unprotected and secured machines.

CESAR aftermarket agent Pirtek will also be exhibiting at SED 2011. Pirtek has 90 service centres across the UK with technicians trained and approved to fit CESAR to existing machines. Fitting and registering a machine takes around 90 minutes and costs £99 plus VAT for a construction machine and £109 plus VAT for an agricultural machine.
